Arthur Dressler
Arthur Dressler, born in 1980, is a freelance photographer based in Paris. Having studied law, his travels abroad lead him towards a career in photography. He obtained an MA in photography and multimedia in 2007 from the Université de Paris VIIII Saint-Denis - and then embraced photography full-time. He spent time travelling through Morocco, Russia, Tibet and China - where he captured the eerie new constructions in the cities of Zhengzhou and Laoyang and the province of Heran where, he says, he acquired the necessary experience to collaborate with the international press and other institutions. In 2008, and again this year, Arthur explored the vast expanses of Kazakhstan.
This year also, he spent time in New York for a reportage titled THIS DAY OF CHANGE 1/20, a project sponsored by Courrier Japon that commissioned work from over 130 photographers from around the world to portray aspects of the planet on the day of Barack Obama’s investiture as President of the United States of America (this work can be viewed on http://courrierjp.com/120/eng//039/0). Other work during his stay in New York captured life as lived beyond the clichés of high-rise Manhattan – the day-to-day of the suburbs beyond the Hudson river and Harlem village life.
